Jazmine Sullivan's "Lions & Tigers & Bears"
Sorry if I sound so filled with gloom You say you care and I know you do But this is from my experience And my conclusion only makes sense Just cause I love u and u love me, It doesn't mean that that we're meant to be, I can climb mountains, swim cross the seas, But the most frightening thing is you & me!
[Chorus] I'm not scared of lions and tigers and bears [oh my] But I'm scared of [loving you] I'm not scared to perform at a sold out affair [that's right] But I'm scared of [loving you] Am I the only one who thinks an impossible task? Why it don't last? Is that too much to ask? Why do we love Love, when Love seems to hate us?
I've been listening to this song a lot lately, and the portion I bolded really got me thinking. Are there people you love that you should never try to be in a relationship with?
I know there are people that you love that you have no business marrying, but what about dating, etc.? I'm sure we've all had a person in our lives that we love, and are drawn to, but for one reason or another it just never seems to work out that you all are "together" no matter how much you love/like each other. Could this be God's way of saying STOP do not pass go?

Nice Lyrics.. I haven't heard the song yet though..
jeff - what's your opinion on the rest of what i wrote (the opinion piece after the lyrics)?
Yes, there are plenty of women I love but should never be in a relationship with. Or perhaps I should say, there are women I love but should not be in a relationship with right now. I'm slowly realizing that the most important women in my life are not in the same life stage as I am. Because of that, we have different values, needs, and desires. Some of them should be kept in a strict 'lets fuck' box. Others are worthy of much more. But they all deserve love (whatever that means because regardless of what you say, it is a social construction subject to multiple meanings). But I've decided to take your approach, I'm single until married:)
I believe that there are people that are better suited to be friends. I think when we force the issue those relationships become disastorous..
Just ran across this from JB's blog. I think people force relationships at different points when they know they can't handle them at all. And then they cyclically keep trying to force them.
That's the bigger problem. If two people have a sincere interest in each other and put forth the effort for it to work, it will.
BTW, this is an amazing song. One of my favs on her album.
